 Financial Policy

At the time the individual is being evaluated for MME, the approximate number of MME treatment hours needed will be quoted.  This is a projection, and reflects the average number of hours needed to achieve benefit in individuals previously treated with the same type of problem.  The actual number of treatment hours needed may be more or less, depending upon the individual patient’s response to MME.  Matters concerning the financial policy of AMRI of NW Ohio are discussed below:

1.      Since MME is an investigational treatment and not approved by the FDA, it is generally not covered by health insurance benefits. We will  provide you with an invoice that can be submitted to your insurance for reimbursement. Please understand that your insurer is not likely to reimburse you for MME.  Some benefit plans take into account the cost of non-covered services; here you can check with your accountant or benefits manager.

2.      If your health/medical or accident insurance company indicates a willingness to provide payment for MME treatment and associated medical evaluations, this must be confirmed in advance of the first treatment.  Written confirmation from the insurance company must be received by AMRI of NW Ohio prior to the first appointment.  If confirmation is not received, you will be asked to pay in advance and then submit your request for reimbursement to your insurance company.

3.      Payment is due in advance for all treatment up to 100 hours.  Payment for additional treatment over 100 hours is due three (3) business days in advance of each additional week in order to reserve the scheduled time.

4.      MME treatments are $35 per hour for treatments scheduled.

5.      AMRI of NW Ohio accepts cash or Visa/MasterCard.  If payment is by personal check, the check must be received in advance and cleared prior to treatment.

6.      Medical evaluation of each patient is performed before the initiation of MME treatment.  The cost of this evaluation is $100 (this medical evaluation charge is reimbursable to you by most health insurance, upon your submission of a paid receipt).  If the health issue in question is covered by your insurer and we are on your insurance plan, then we will bill your insurer for these visits (in practice the medical evaluation is nearly always covered).

7.      MME treatment is billed in one hour increments only.  Fractional billing is not possible; this is to encourage patient/caregiver to make optimal use of the magnet time which has been scheduled.  Charges are made for the time scheduled (The overhead involved in providing MME is significant.  If you decide not to come in for treatment on a day that you are scheduled, then that is your decision, but you will be charged for the MME time wasted.)

At tWe want you to understand our financial policy and we have made it as straight forward as possible.  If you have questions, please ask them, and obtain an answer, before you decide to begin MME.  Once you get started, we will be busy spinning your electrons and haggling with the forces that made you ill.  At that point we do not wish to spend time haggling over financial issues that should have been settled before MME treatment was initiated.

AMRI of NW Ohio provides MME treatment under the guidelines of an Investigational Review Board, consistent with FDA regulations.

Please note that MME treatment is considered to be experimental by the FDA. Although many patients have improved, no guarantee of success is implied.
